Eric Ruthenberg
Eric Ruthenberg, Music Director
2024 marks Eric Ruthenberg’s 30th year conducting the Concord Coachmen. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Boston University in 1993. Eric served as the choral director at Newport Middle High School until 2006, when he changed careers to more nerdy things. He is now the Associate Director of Information Technology at Angell Animal Medical Center-MSPCA in Boston.
Eric has served as chairman of the Barbershop Harmony Society's Young Men in Harmony committee, the Northeastern District VP of Chorus Director Development, and has coordinated the New Hampshire High School Barbershop Festival. He is a long time faculty member of Harmony College Northeast.
His barbershop arrangements have been performed by choruses and quartets across the country, and on the BHS International Contest stage. Ruthenberg was honored by the chorus as "Barbershopper of the Year" in 1996 and 2021, and was awarded the "Volunteer of the Year" in 1999 by Harmony Foundation. In 2005, he was guest conductor at IASAS, an international choral festival in Indonesia. Eric is a two time Northeastern District (NED) quartet champion, singing baritone with Overdrive (2000) and tenor with Average Joes (2011). He currently enjoys singing lead in Staff Party.
Eric lives in Merrimack with his Accomplice-For-Life, Camille, together with their amazing children, Gabe, Caroline, and Michael. They are vastly outnumbered by their pets (or maybe it just feels that way), Teddy the dog, Tuppy, Rocky, Nova and Cinco D. Meow (cats), Slippy the axolotl, and King, who swims around the tank with Slippy.
